Wim Wenders, the German Filmmaker had one thing to say about Robby's solo CD "Soultube": "beautiful". Like Wim Wenders' films, Robby's songs are road movies, film songs snapped up from the fringes of life. In the basement studio of an old Train Station, Robby writes, records and produces much of Soultube Music's material. An award winning songwriter, Robby has written music for the 2004 Oscar nominated short film "Ferry Tales" by Katja Esson, has shared the Stage with Rolling Stones guitarist Mick Taylor, Suzanne Vega, Los Lobos, Jonathan Edwards and CCR. He is currently the lead singer of Melodrome and is working on their third release in 2004. With his partner Carol Gingles he has launched Soultube Music, a publishing company specializing in placing songs in film. He is the second Place Winner in the 2004 International Songwriting Competition for best Pop Song and is the winner of the 2002 Musician's Atlas independent Music Awards for Best Pop/Rock song.

Robby Baier was lead singer and writer for the band Pearls at Swine (BMG Ariola) from 87' to 96'.

In 1997 Robby Baier moved back to the States, set up a studio in a barn in Richmond, MA, and recorded "Soultube", his solo debut. Hailed by critics and fans, this Article by Singer Songwriter Magazine sums it all up: "SoulTube, is a tour-de-force. Baier writes, produces, sings and plays virtually every instrument on the album. Baier's voice actually recalls David Baerwald's with its soulful crack. What makes Baier's songs so listenable... is: they buoy their tales of the lost and the broken with irresistible pop/rock hooks... "Room In My Chevy" stomps along propelled by a repeating harmonica phrase that'll get stuck in your brain for a day or two. Actually that can be said for the whole album. There's not a toss-off in the bunch. SoulTube is really a soul bomb. Dig the fallout."

The songs Seriously and Right On Track made it into the Feature Film "The Brutal Truth", starring Molly Ringwald, Christina Applegate and Jonathan Schaech. Right On Track was also featured in the Indie film "Dinner and a Movie" by Lisa Kors. Check out the arty video for "Seriously", shot in the old Power Station of the Monument Mills in Housatonic, MA featuring Bettina Montano of the Victory Girls. Choreography by Laurie McLeod (www.victorygirl.com). Soultube continues to make waves. In the summer of 2004 the "Seriously" Video was chosen to appear in ABC's "All My Children."

Sibylle's Music is simply amazing in its intimacy and closeness. Recorded in the late 70's on her home reel to reel recording device, the songs on "Colour Green" are intimate portraits of life's sad and fragile beauty. Her music has appeared in Wim Wenders' Film "Alice in den Städten"(Alice in the Cities) and in the film "Umarmungen und andere Sachen" (Embraces), by Jochen Richter.

Sibylle started playing guitar and piano as a young girl, and through the years enjoyed german folk songs, english and french ballads, George Brassens, the Beatles, Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, as well as classical music, especially Brahms and Bach.

In a particularly dark and moody period of her life, a friend of Sibylle’s dragged her out from under the bed and took her on a road trip to Strasbourg ending up across the Alps in Genoa. Upon the return of this trip Sibylle felt her sprits renewed and set out to write the song “Remember the Day” grateful for being alive. It was the first song she ever wrote.

In the late 60's and early 70's my mother Sibylle Baier slowly moved away from her career as an actress and songwriter to raise a family. A gifted musician, painter and seamstress, Sibylle is a fountain of expression, a deep thinker, a philosopher and writer. Living in Stuttgart, Germany with her two kids and husband, an accomplished screenwriter, their circle of friends included a colorful mix of eccentrics, artist, philosophers, dancers, royalty, musicians, neighbors and hobos. Sibylle, the talented beauty, was at the heart of that circle.

A student of religions and philosophy, her songs search for life's meaning as well as reflect the struggles of a mother, wife, lover and friend. Her unusual harmonic changes and beautiful meandering melodies take you on a special journey through the landscapes of her life, "through the hills (marked by apple trees)", "to the top of the empire state" and into his car, "a place where she's been happy". It just occurred to me that she, a German, wrote all these songs in english while living in Germany and it is interesting that our family ended up living in the US, in the beautiful Berkshire hills, “marked by apple trees”.
Colour Green is a gem of an album that will blow your mind. You will ask yourself how it is possible you have never heard this before? Sibylle is a star who chose to shine for her friends and family instead of the whole world. With the release of this CD I hope to finally share the full radiance of her power with all of you.

Send her an e-mail and let her know what her music has done for you.

Graham's Site

Like his unique singing voice, Graham Isaacson?s approach to songwriting and performing evokes raw emotion in those who hear it. Graham?s what you hear is what you get demeanor, combined with his no nonsense approach to his personal style is a refreshing change from today?s over-styled artists and over produced songs.
To categorize Graham as a typical singer-songwriter one would be missing the point. His music evokes feelings of intimacy, truth, and heartfelt emotion, using delicately crafted songs structured around interesting chord progressions and Grammy caliber arrangements. With each line, Isaacson draws you deeper and deeper into his consciousness.

Listening to Graham, you are reminded of another time when rather than seeking hit records; artists bore their souls in songs and what made them hits was their universal truth. A time when the simple tale of a breakup between a man and a woman defined the life one lived. If you are not pulled by the stories Graham tells in his songs; Graham's mesmerizingly earthy, smoky baritone will elevate you a much simpler time and place.

Though still a young songwriter, Graham has had the privilege of performing with the likes of John Gorka, Jonathan Brooks and Leo Kottke. His music has been featured on regional college and non-commercial radio, as well as a Maine PBS "School Zones" compilation entitled "Tomorrow Today". Most recently, Graham was recognized as a featured artist on Garageband.com.

Graham recently completed his debut record titled "Nine Days", produced and co-written by Robby Baier. Graham will be supporting the record with live performances throughout the United States in 2005.

"Nine Days" studio lineup:

Graham Isaacson: Guitar, vocals
Eladia Underwood: Cello
John Suters: Stand-up Bass
Conor Meehan: Drums, percussion
Peter Adams: Lap Steel
Robby Baier: Fender Rhodes, percussion, backing vox

Accompanying herself on guitar and harmonica, Eilen Jewell is an emerging gifted singer and songwriter with a captivating stage presence. Music Critic Seth Rogovoy has acknowledged her for carrying on the tradition of Emmy winner Geoff Muldaur and American roots music. Hailing from Boston by way of Idaho, Eilen puts her own beautiful stamp on old country blues and comes out sounding like the sweet-voiced love-child of Gillian Welch and the Be Good Tanyas. She currently lives in Boston where she is making a name for her self and her band.

An acoustic blues quartet with strong country and folk influences, the Eilen Jewell Band is quickly gaining audience members throughout the Northeast. Eilen Jewell, the group's lead singer, guitar player, and primary songwriter, recorded her first solo record, entitled One of Those Days, in 2003. She has been performing for several years as a solo artist, bouncing from the west coast (Venice Beach, CA; Santa Fe, NM) to the east coast (Great Barrington, MA). Now living in Somerville, she has formed her own band with the area's finest and most up-and-coming musicians. Jason Beek, one of Boston's most sought-after drummers (also of Whoa! Man! Jesus!), and veteran stand-up bass player Paul Strother (Chicken Chokers, Twang) make up her rhythm section. Harmonica player P.J. Eastman rounds out the band with his unique style that lies between Sonny Terry and Little Walter. The Eilen Jewell Band takes its influences from the likes of Bessie Smith, Hank Williams, and Howlin' Wolf, but the sound, centered around Eilen's rich and beautiful voice, makes this band a unique experience for contemporary ears.

The songs on "Happens While You Blink", Melodrome's brand new album, rock just as deep as on their other records, but the pulse and blood pressure has gone up considerably. More rock and less roll. The CD was released April 2, 2005.

Melodrome self-released their debut, "The Sidewalk Ends", in February of 2002. To date, the album has helped the band account for two independent music and songwriting awards, placement in the 2004 Academy Award nominated documentary "Ferry Tales" by Katja Esson (4 songs plus original score), two separate TV ad's, and air play on college and independent radio stations across North America. The album received immediate critical acclaim, and wound up on NPR's top-ten list for Albums Of The Year in 2002.

Melodrome began recording their second record, "Play America", as media coverage of an impending attack on Iraq began to escalate in early Spring, 2003. The band packed up and headed to Woodstock's famed Applehead Recording Studio to solidify the works. "We decided to make a six song EP on purpose," Baier explains. "This way, we could say exactly what we wanted without the message getting lost among other songs on a full length CD." True to their convictions, the band returned to Woodstock on September 11th to debut the work on a live broadcast over WDST Radio's "Sessions Live" program prior to heading out on tour.

Highlights included being selected for a regional "in-store" tour of Borders Books & Music stores, a distribution deal into Borders Stores (handled by Redeye Distribution & The Musicians Atlas), and most importantly, the groups establishment of S.T.A.R. (Students Teach The Art of Recording), a program that has allowed the band to "give back" to high schools in and around their local community by donating thousand's of dollars worth of recording equipment to under-funded music programs.

Melodrome is dedicated to making a positive impact on the world. After 9/11, the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq and the re-election of George W., Melodrome is deepening their commitment to making a difference. Looking at the "big picture", they are no longer willing to be part of the problem, but part of the solution. Melodrome is in the process of changing the way they do business. Starting today (Nov 2, 2004) they will make every effort to use recycled materials, and to purchase products that where created by green companies. They are looking into buying a van fueled by cooking oil and will be active in anti war and political events. In fact, they will play for free at any event that supports the environment, raises awareness about important political issues such as gay rights, equality in the work place, women's rights, etc. All products offered for sale by them will be eco-friendly.

Poigniant and Seductive Singer Songwriter

Delivering sensitive and soulful heart-speak, combined with powerful yet subtle musicality, Maya is fast emerging as one of the most poignant and seductive singer-songwriters to date.

Maya Solovey - Young, genuine, and passionate for life, love, and truth, she composes intricate piano-based pop music, with an indian influence and sometimes a slight R&B flavor. Her new EP, "Dissolving" incorporates lush vocal layering, strings, Sanskrit mantras, sitar, and tablas to create a deep, earthy full sound, with melancholic undertones.

The Voice – Ranging from earthy and sultry, to breathy and sweet, her voice is soulful and delicate, strong and vulnerable, solid and intimate, and always heartfelt. She carries her songs with honesty and grace, seizing and capturing the experiences the heart feels when it is truly alive.

The Background – Solovey began playing music at age five. She always played by ear, even to the point of fooling her piano teachers for three years, convincing them that she was reading the music they gave her. When she was fifteen years old, Maya began teaching herself guitar and writing songs, and by age seventeen, she had produced and released her first album, ‘Spiritual Fruit’. After trying her hand at the life of the lone folk singer-songwriter, Maya switched instruments, from the guitar back to the piano, and began honing her style towards pop, all the while keeping her unique musical perspective intact. Now, at age 20, the quality of Solovey’s songs clearly shows that the work has paid off.
Backing her up are her influences of great modern singer-songwriters, such as Coldplay, Tori Amos, Fiona Apple, Paula Cole, but she never fails to give her listener surprises, always keeping her music fresh, growing, and congruent with her own development as a young woman.
Maya Solovey, a force to be reckoned with, now releases her new four-song EP, ‘Dissolving’. Watch out, world.

Pearls At Swine , a rock band with a British 70's based sound out of Berlin, Germany, was active from '87 to '96. First under the name of Four Out Of Five Dentists , which was changed to Pearls At Swine in '91 with the release of their first album Roughmixes. Three albums followed, with Bent And Busted in '92, Thru The Gills in '93 and ending with Pearls At Swine , a BMG/Ariola release in '96.

At the core of the band was Robby Baier (a.k.a. Robby Grizzem), vocals and guitar, and Nicolai Lieven, lead guitar. This team of writers and childhood buddies started writing songs together in their teens, and continued to do so when they moved into their first apartment together in Berlin. Four Out Of Five Dentists, with Reinhardt Knapp on bass and Uwe Zander on drums was a force to be reckoned with in the late eighties in Berlin. Their sold out shows and loyal fan base caught the attention of Jim Rakete (ex-manager of Nina Hagen and Nena) and they soon signed with Act Publishing and where in the studio doing demos. With Florian Dauner on Drums and Knut Rauter on Bass they set out to record their first album in 1990 at Berlin's Preussen Tonstudio .

Not satisfied with the results, Robby and Nicolai fought against the release of the album and the opinions of their band mates and in the process broke up the band yet again. Not willing to fall short of their musical vision, Robby spent his inheritance on three weeks of studio time in the famous Hansa Studios, where Robby, Nicolai, Nicolai's brother and drummer Alex Lieven and Keyboarder Danny Deutschmark proceeded to record "Roughmixes", arguably the best album the Pearls ever released. The German major labels, however, could not get excited about the album, saying it sounded "too American". So the Pearls ended up in the States, living in Western Mass and concentrating on Boston and NYC, where they hooked up with management and started gigging. Crisis Management out of New Jersey booked several showcases. The American press wrote favorably and the record companies were interested.

After numerous showcases and empty promises the band flew back to Germany to work on their second album Bent And Busted . With new energy the band hit the States again in '92, where they toured for half a year from Quebec, Chicago, New York, New Jersey all the way down to Key West, Florida on their "Bent and Busted Tour". In '94 they recorded "Thru The Gills" in Woodstock, NY and returned to Berlin with American bassist John Suters. During their absence they had won that year's Metrobeat Musicpoll 's best bands of Berlin contest. With the prize money, new management, new players Otto Block on drums and Jesko Stahl on bass they finally signed a deal with BMG/Ariola and recorded "Pearls At Swine" in Vienna, Austria with producer Robert Ponger (Falco, Der Kommissar). After a tour of Germany opening for CCR, BMG dropped the band due to inter-company personnel changes. Soon after, Robby called it quits, concentrating on recording his solo debut SoulTube back in his home in Western Mass.

From a gospel upbringing, a South London adolescence, and Midwest hootenannies comes Celia and her debut album, "Break". This acoustic soul pop album has got East Coast audiences and DJ?s talking about her voice and sound. Passionate, moody and quirky? Celia is a powerful performer who disarms you with a rare authenticity. She?s Fiona Apple meets Mary J. Blige, according to some reviewers, and she?s tying her influences together with sharp and evocative lyrics, and an aching compelling voice.

Celia began her career singing gospel choruses in her preacher-father?s church. Encouraged at an early age to make a life singing and performing, years later Celia started singing her poems set to music at various clubs. Celia taught herself piano and guitar and began gigging regionally in New England. She was selling a 9 song demo and performing in NYC and Boston clubs in the late nineties.
In 2003, Celia met Robby Baier from Soultube Music and asked him to produce her next album. Celia?s raw elements of blues and funk-folk and gospel were emphasized in this fresh setting of sampled and live drums, hip bass lines and acoustic grooves. Released in July the album already has DJ?s saying things like "Break sits firmly in my top ten releases of the year" (Donny Moorhouse, WRNX) and "Cool and entrancing" (Music Director Johnny Memphis WRSI). Gigging with a band in Massachusetts called "a veritable supergroup" by local reviewers, Celia is looking for more opportunities to showcase her voice and sound.

Homegrown singer-songwriter Folk Pop. Jackson Browne jams with cat Stevens

High Meadow 2004
(Recorded 1979-1985)

A man and his guitar come to terms with love, longing and life in rural Western Massachusetts in these intensely heart felt songs, recorded between 1979 to 1985. Sounding like the East Coast?s answer to Jackson Browne, Philip Buller accompanies himself on acoustic guitar, flute, harmonica and piano. Having left home at 18 to be a traveling musician, Buller played New England from 1973 to 1985 in the acoustic duo Beckett and as a solo performer, being billed with the likes of Earl Scruggs, Livingston Taylor, Jonathan Edwards and Maria Muldour. Another one of Soultube's old school offerings, these songs were recorded between 1979 and 1985, resulting in the double CD "High Meadow?, an ambitious trove of singer-songwriter gems.

Buller's most significant early influences were the powerful troubadours of our time: Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen and the Beatles. He began writing at the age of 13, and left home at age 18 to become an traveling musician. Between 1973 and
1985, music was his passion and his profession. He played in and around New England in an acoustic duo and trio named Beckett as well as a solo performer.
Beckett's repertoire was almost exclusively original music. During this time Phil played clubs and concerts, playing on the same bill as Earl Scruggs,Livingston Taylor, Jonathan Edwards, Maria Muldour, and others.

Phil says: "Composing music continues to be an important and satisfying process for me. Although I now consider visual art to be at the center of my work, music and painting compliment each other well. A primary intention in both disciplines is the layering of shapes and textures over time, to create dynamic relationships within unifying structures. In song writing the
structures are temporal, in visual art spacial. And, in both disciplines, it is an intensity of feeling for which I search."

Together with his wife, Janet Adler, Phil moved form Massachusetts in 1986 and now resides in Sebastopol, a small town in Northern California.

A new CD is in the works.
