Wim Wenders, the German Filmmaker, had one thing to say about Robby's solo CD "Soultube": "beautiful". Like Wim Wenders' films, Robby's songs are road movies, film songs snapped up from the fringes of life. In the basement studio of an old Train Station, Robby writes, records and produces much of Soultube Music's material.
An award winning songwriter, Robby has written the music for the 2004 Oscar nominated short film "Ferry Tales" by Katja Esson. His music has appeared in many TV shows and Films including "Drowning Mona", "The Brutal Truth", "Touched By An Angel", "JAG", "Robocop" and"All My Children".
An Ex-BMG Germany recording artist, Robby has shared the Stage with Suzanne Vega, Rolling Stones guitarist Mick Taylor, Los Lobos, Stix, Jefferson Starship, Jonathan Edwards and CCR (among others).
He is the lead singer of Melodrome and is working on their fourth release due in January 2010. He is the second Place Winner in the 2004 International Songwriting Competition for best Pop Song and is the winner of the 2002 Musician's Atlas independent Music Awards for Best Pop/Rock song. He is the president of Soultube Music and SubStation Recording Studio in Housatonic MA where he produces recordings for local singer songwriters and bands.

Sibylle's Music is simply amazing in its intimacy and closeness. Recorded in the late 70's on her home reel to reel recording device, the songs on "Colour Green" are intimate portraits of life's sad and fragile beauty. Her music has appeared in Wim Wenders' Film "Alice in den Städten"(Alice in the Cities) and in the film "Umarmungen und andere Sachen" (Embraces), by Jochen Richter.
Sibylle started playing guitar and piano as a young girl, and through the years enjoyed german folk songs, english and french ballads, George Brassens, the Beatles, Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, as well as classical music, especially Brahms and Bach.
In a particularly dark and moody period of her life, a friend of Sibylles dragged her out from under the bed and took her on a road trip to Strasbourg ending up across the Alps in Genoa. Upon the return of this trip Sibylle felt her sprits renewed and set out to write the song Remember the Day grateful for being alive. It was the first song she ever wrote.
In the late 60's and early 70's my mother Sibylle Baier slowly moved away from her career as an actress and songwriter to raise a family. A gifted musician, painter and seamstress, Sibylle is a fountain of expression, a deep thinker, a philosopher and writer. Living in Stuttgart, Germany with her two kids and husband, an accomplished screenwriter, their circle of friends included a colorful mix of eccentrics, artist, philosophers, dancers, royalty, musicians, neighbors and hobos. Sibylle, the talented beauty, was at the heart of that circle.
A student of religions and philosophy, her songs search for life's meaning as well as reflect the struggles of a mother, wife, lover and friend. Her unusual harmonic changes and beautiful meandering melodies take you on a special journey through the landscapes of her life, "through the hills (marked by apple trees)", "to the top of the empire state" and into his car, "a place where she's been happy". It just occurred to me that she, a German, wrote all these songs in english while living in Germany and it is interesting that our family ended up living in the US, in the beautiful Berkshire hills, marked by apple trees.
Colour Green is a gem of an album that will blow your mind. You will ask yourself how it is possible you have never heard this before? Sibylle is a star who chose to shine for her friends and family instead of the whole world. With the release of this CD I hope to finally share the full radiance of her power with all of you.

To categorize Graham Isaacson as a typical singer-songwriter, one would be missing the point. On his debut, 'Memories in Shadows', Portland, Maine-based Graham Isaacson sounds like an old soul. His Tom Waits, Leonard Cohen-inspired music evokes feelings of intimacy, truth, and heartfelt emotion. His straight-from-the-heart lyrics would make most think hes been around the block more than the rest of us. And yet at 23, its clear his gifts have only just begun. Graham Isaacson began his interest in music as a piano-noodling toddler and began writing his first songs as a teenager. When I first heard David Greys 'White Ladder' and Smashing Pumpkins 'Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness,' it completely changed my way of thinking. Thats when I started to write pretty seriously. You can still hear traces of both of those artists in Isaacsons current set list. Once Graham ventured off to college, his songwriting became all-consuming. Thats when I realized I wanted to be a performer. Hes been performing ever since and, in the process, amassed a respectable local following and a sizable MySpace fan club as well. 'Memories In Shadows' was produced by Melodromes Robby Baier at SubStation Recording in Housatonic, Massachusetts. Recorded in an old train station, 'Memories In Shadows' manages to be both sweeping and beautifully raw in its delivery, with Grahams voice and lyrical guitar lines often taking center stage. In fact, its exactly those qualities that contributed to Graham landing Second place honors in the 2006 International Songwriting Competition (ISC), no easy feat considering the whos who panel of judges: Tom Waits, Norah Jones, Joss Stone, and LeAnn Rimes. Its also worth mentioning that the ISC received close to 50,000 entries from 82 countries throughout the world, of which Grahams was one. American Idol be damned. Grahams uniqueness and dedication have also gained him the notice and respect of another of Portland, Maines notable residentsRay LaMontagne. Hes been really supportive and weve become good friends. Theyve also written a few songs together that will hopefully be on the next album. Graham has also recently begun co-writing with other established brethren like Joey and Gavin Degraw, Jeff Cohen, and the Spin Doctors Chris Barron. At 23, an old soul indeed.

Formed in Autumn of 2000, Melodrome is comprised of singer/guitarist Robby Baier, bassist Jesko Stahl, and drummers Justin Guip (studio) and Kali Baba (live).
Basically, Melodrome rocks.
Everything else about them is just icing.
Yeah, there are the Independent Music and Songwriting Awards, the track placements in the 2004 Academy Award nominated documentary "Ferry Tales" by Katja Esson (4 songs plus original score), the national TV beer ad's, the airplay on college and independent radio stations across North America. Oh, and the deal with BMG Europe in the 90's of Baier's and Stahl's previous project "Pearls at Swine".
So granted, the icing is a bit thick.
But deep within their hot, gooey center this band is all about plugging in, turning up and making sure that everyone in the house is having a great time. Perhaps now more then ever: Melodrome has written a new batch of songs that take them (and their listeners) all the way back to their sweaty roots in a Berlin basement. That's where Baier and Stahl met years ago and that's where their blues based, hard hitting riffs first made their way through the grates up to the Kreuzberger streets, breaking hearts and kicking it.
Now, miles away from there, and with the help of fellow brother in arms Justin Guip (700 Miles, RCA) and live drummer Kali Baba (Arlo Guthrie, Xavier, Lord Hill) Melodrome has recorded their fourth release "So Sticky" (working title). The new tracks are hard hitting rock anthems, stripped down to their bare assets: Driving beats, catchy riffs and soulful vocals.
Mostly, the new tracks are a blast to listen to and don't ask much of the casual listener other than to grin and do like an AC/DC Fan and bang your head. If one decides to slip on some headphones and dig deeper, Baier's words will take you up or down a flight to subtler levels of meaning and interpretation. But wait... this is starting to sound like Melodrome cares much about stimulating your cerebral cortex with this release. No... If these tracks make your "soul rage" or your "heart race" (from their track "Rock With Me") then their job is done. If you're into crying about how and why your lover left, then ask them to play songs from one of their other records (Happens While You Blink, The Sidewalk Ends, Play America).

Delivering sensitive and soulful heart-speak, combined with powerful yet subtle musicality, Maya is fast emerging as one of the most poignant and seductive singer-songwriters to date.
Maya Solovey - Young, genuine, and passionate for life, love, and truth, she composes intricate piano-based pop music, with an indian influence and sometimes a slight R&B flavor. Her new EP, "Dissolving" incorporates lush vocal layering, strings, Sanskrit mantras, sitar, and tablas to create a deep, earthy full sound, with melancholic undertones.
The Voice Ranging from earthy and sultry, to breathy and sweet, her voice is soulful and delicate, strong and vulnerable, solid and intimate, and always heartfelt. She carries her songs with honesty and grace, seizing and capturing the experiences the heart feels when it is truly alive.
The Background Solovey began playing music at age five. She always played by ear, even to the point of fooling her piano teachers for three years, convincing them that she was reading the music they gave her. When she was fifteen years old, Maya began teaching herself guitar and writing songs, and by age seventeen, she had produced and released her first album, Spiritual Fruit. After trying her hand at the life of the lone folk singer-songwriter, Maya switched instruments, from the guitar back to the piano, and began honing her style towards pop, all the while keeping her unique musical perspective intact. Now, at age 20, the quality of Soloveys songs clearly shows that the work has paid off.
Backing her up are her influences of great modern singer-songwriters, such as Coldplay, Tori Amos, Fiona Apple, Paula Cole, but she never fails to give her listener surprises, always keeping her music fresh, growing, and congruent with her own development as a young woman.
Maya Solovey, a force to be reckoned with, now releases her new four-song EP, Dissolving. Watch out, world.

Look out, everybody, Rosanne s'got a new one out!
Rosanne Raneri and Robby Baier spent several months in 2003 working on her new CD "Shift" at SubStation Recording. The CD release party was on November 20th at WAWC's Linda Norris Auditorium, breaking walk-up attendance records! Greg Haymes from the Albany Times Union writes: "Picking a favorite from this exquisite collection of a dozen tracks is a nearly impossible task."
"Parhelion", Rosanne's second CD released in December 2000, was named Best Local Release for 2000 by Metroland Magazine's Peter Hanson and was Greg Haymes' second most listened to national record release of the year. In his review of "Parhelion", Hanson says, "Capital Region folk diva Rosanne Raneri is that kind of great songwriter. She writes songs that spring from the brain, the soul and sometimes the libido all at once. Her music conveys the whole of a person. Her songs match her sensual, husky, agile pipes for pure expressiveness. The combination of mature songs, superhuman singing and supple playing makes Parhelion one of the finest albums ever recorded in this area." Greg Haymes of the Times Union says "Raneri serves up the complete package: stunning songs, a jaw-droppingly gorgeous voice and an almost palpable charisma," and calls the songs on "Parhelion" "folk-pop gems that sparkle like the sun on fresh winter snow."

Johnny Kearns (aka John John the Phenomenon aka Johnny K aka Johnny 5) is an electronic percussionist and producer from Lenox, MA. In October of 2008 he moved to Northern California in hopes of accomplishing his dreams of blowing up. He found his nitch in Sebastopol, where he currently lives and works.
Johnny began recording music with Garrit Baker aka G Bakez
(http://www.myspace.com/garritbaker) in the Berkshires when they became friends in high school. Johnny and Bakez played in a couple bands together (My Friends and I, The Rubber Bullets) before they both became obsessed with the Akai MPC and began sampling and making instrumentals. They formed Electro Bandit (http://www.myspace.com/electrobandits) and became obsessed with these instrumentals.
When Johnny moved to California, he became interested in Dubstep and the CDJs that make this kind of music all possible. He began to play around with CDJs, which allowed him to more effectively manipulate sounds and as a result changed his whole style of making beats. He became interested in remixing old music with a CDJ and an MPC. He went from creating sequences and loops to treating his MPC like a percussive instrument and playing everything live. Recording a track consists of layering these live performances.
He began a side project with his good friend Sean Fitzgerald, aka soGNAR, who also left The Berkshires behind for NorCal. Their project is called $LEEVEZ OF FIRE
Johnny is currently collabing with his friend and roomie, trained classical pianist Theo Alfano. Johnny K is all about the fusion of genres, and his current interest is effectively fusing classical music and electronic music.

Pearls At Swine , a rock band with a British 70's based sound out of Berlin, Germany, was active from '87 to '96. First under the name of Four Out Of Five Dentists , which was changed to Pearls At Swine in '91 with the release of their first album Roughmixes. Three albums followed, with Bent And Busted in '92, Thru The Gills in '93 and ending with Pearls At Swine , a BMG/Ariola release in '96.
At the core of the band was Robby Baier (a.k.a. Robby Grizzem), vocals and guitar, and Nicolai Lieven, lead guitar. This team of writers and childhood buddies started writing songs together in their teens, and continued to do so when they moved into their first apartment together in Berlin. Four Out Of Five Dentists, with Reinhardt Knapp on bass and Uwe Zander on drums was a force to be reckoned with in the late eighties in Berlin. Their sold out shows and loyal fan base caught the attention of Jim Rakete (ex-manager of Nina Hagen and Nena) and they soon signed with Act Publishing and where in the studio doing demos. With Florian Dauner on Drums and Knut Rauter on Bass they set out to record their first album in 1990 at Berlin's Preussen Tonstudio .
Not satisfied with the results, Robby and Nicolai fought against the release of the album and the opinions of their band mates and in the process broke up the band yet again. Not willing to fall short of their musical vision, Robby spent his inheritance on three weeks of studio time in the famous Hansa Studios, where Robby, Nicolai, Nicolai's brother and drummer Alex Lieven and Keyboarder Danny Deutschmark proceeded to record "Roughmixes", arguably the best album the Pearls ever released. The German major labels, however, could not get excited about the album, saying it sounded "too American". So the Pearls ended up in the States, living in Western Mass and concentrating on Boston and NYC, where they hooked up with management and started gigging. Crisis Management out of New Jersey booked several showcases. The American press wrote favorably and the record companies were interested.
After numerous showcases and empty promises the band flew back to Germany to work on their second album Bent And Busted . With new energy the band hit the States again in '92, where they toured for half a year from Quebec, Chicago, New York, New Jersey all the way down to Key West, Florida on their "Bent and Busted Tour". In '94 they recorded "Thru The Gills" in Woodstock, NY and returned to Berlin with American bassist John Suters. During their absence they had won that year's Metrobeat Musicpoll 's best bands of Berlin contest. With the prize money, new management, new players Otto Block on drums and Jesko Stahl on bass they finally signed a deal with BMG/Ariola and recorded "Pearls At Swine" in Vienna, Austria with producer Robert Ponger (Falco, Der Kommissar). After a tour of Germany opening for CCR, BMG dropped the band due to inter-company personnel changes. Soon after, Robby called it quits, concentrating on recording his solo debut SoulTube back in his home in Western Mass.

From a gospel upbringing, a South London adolescence, and Midwest hootenannies comes Celia and her debut album, "Break". This acoustic soul pop album has got East Coast audiences and DJ?s talking about her voice and sound. Passionate, moody and quirky? Celia is a powerful performer who disarms you with a rare authenticity. She?s Fiona Apple meets Mary J. Blige, according to some reviewers, and she?s tying her influences together with sharp and evocative lyrics, and an aching compelling voice.
Celia began her career singing gospel choruses in her preacher-father?s church. Encouraged at an early age to make a life singing and performing, years later Celia started singing her poems set to music at various clubs. Celia taught herself piano and guitar and began gigging regionally in New England. She was selling a 9 song demo and performing in NYC and Boston clubs in the late nineties.
In 2003, Celia met Robby Baier from Soultube Music and asked him to produce her next album. Celia?s raw elements of blues and funk-folk and gospel were emphasized in this fresh setting of sampled and live drums, hip bass lines and acoustic grooves. Released in July the album already has DJ?s saying things like "Break sits firmly in my top ten releases of the year" (Donny Moorhouse, WRNX) and "Cool and entrancing" (Music Director Johnny Memphis WRSI). Gigging with a band in Massachusetts called "a veritable supergroup" by local reviewers, Celia is looking for more opportunities to showcase her voice and sound.

Cole approaches music composition in the same manner as his other love, painting. By building upon a single lyric or melodic idea, he subtly layers his arrangements from an aural palette to create an atmospheric, yet uncluttered sound. A man and his guitar come to terms with love, longing and life in rural Western Massachusetts in these intensely heart felt songs, recorded between 1979 to 1985. Sounding like the East Coast?s answer to Jackson Browne, Philip Buller accompanies himself on acoustic guitar, flute, harmonica and piano. Having left home at 18 to be a traveling musician, Buller played New England from 1973 to 1985 in the acoustic duo Beckett and as a solo performer, being billed with the likes of Earl Scruggs, Livingston Taylor, Jonathan Edwards and Maria Muldour. Another one of Soultube's old school offerings, these songs were recorded between 1979 and 1985, resulting in the double CD "High Meadow?, an ambitious trove of singer-songwriter gems.
Buller's most significant early influences were the powerful troubadours of our time: Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen and the Beatles. He began writing at the age of 13, and left home at age 18 to become an traveling musician. Between 1973 and
1985, music was his passion and his profession. He played in and around New England in an acoustic duo and trio named Beckett as well as a solo performer.
Beckett's repertoire was almost exclusively original music. During this time Phil played clubs and concerts, playing on the same bill as Earl Scruggs,Livingston Taylor, Jonathan Edwards, Maria Muldour, and others.
Phil says: "Composing music continues to be an important and satisfying process for me. Although I now consider visual art to be at the center of my work, music and painting compliment each other well. A primary intention in both disciplines is the layering of shapes and textures over time, to create dynamic relationships within unifying structures. In song writing the
structures are temporal, in visual art spacial. And, in both disciplines, it is an intensity of feeling for which I search."
Together with his wife, Janet Adler, Phil moved form Massachusetts in 1986 and now resides in Sebastopol, a small town in Northern California.
A new CD is in the works.
